Adventures in Learning Blender! #2

Well it had to be done!

It seems to be a rite of passage that everyone who learns Blender must make the blender donut, following along with the excellent Blender Guru courses on YouTube!

It wasn’t entirely without its hitches, the course I was following was pre Blender-3.0 (because that course had the coffee too whereas his 3.0+ course is just the donut at time of writing), and this meant that there were occasional things to wrestle with where UI or defaults had changed (one particular one was the model used for subsurface scattering had changed somewhere between 2.8.x and 3.2.1 and it meant all the pink donut icing looked really weird and blue until I realised the cause!)

All that said, I’m super happy with the results, and I feel like I’ve really joined the Blender Crew (TM) properly now!

So without further waffling, here’s some media to enjoy!

And of-course the little animation too to complete the set!

This will probably be the last Blender-related post for a little while as I’m working on something code-y, but I’ll definitely be coming back to Blender in the future, having a great time with it 😀
